It was an ok day, yesterday, I went biking, ate nothing more than I usually do except I baked something that was good. I took either 5 or 6 apples, cored and sliced them, left the peel on, and baked them with raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, stevia, 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp flour, 1/4 c vinegar and crumbled pie shell (about 1 tbsp beef fat and 3/4 cup flour). It was split into 4, had one part friday night, half of it yesterday and today I am saving the rest for a friend I will be seeing tomorrow. Yes, I think you are right, apple crumble is not a diet item, but, after reading the recipes for it I used less grease for the pie shell. It tasted remotely like minced meat. There were only 22g of carbs from the flour per serving.
I weighed myself this morning I am still at 210.
I just googled total carbs in a mcdonald's bun, it is 37. I feel a bit better, oddly enough. I am so accustomed to eating a couple peanut butter and jam sandwiches without thinking either way about them.
fun:
1 slice of bread 14 carbs total bread 4 slices 56 carbs
2 tbsp peanut butter 7 carbs 4 tbsp 14
1 tbsp jam 13 2 tbsp 26
What I have read, seen, watched and heard from all the scientists and doctors that weigh in on carbs from wheat it converts to sugar. I have not a clue as to why carbs in general don't convert to sugar, but, all the researchers I have taken advice from claim they don't. I think it borders on the question of "why are 110 calories of fresh peanuts more healthy than 110 calories of soda?" I have not had a pbj sandwich in...since I started this diet and am craving them. But, now that I am looking at just the carbs I am craving them less. What is sad, I have been eating just the peanut butter now and then. The research I have been doing on google and other sources tell me that carbs from apples and nuts are totally different from carbs from wheat, and, from what I can tell, I have been eating a lot better than I have been, even if I have been eating quite a bit of apples.
I love apples. I think I have mentioned that.
a 12 oz can of coke has 140 calories and 39 grams of carbs
peanuts, one cup, chopped (Like I am going to eat that many peanuts in one sitting) 862 calories, 22 grams of carbs. the peanuts sound a bit healthier. One ounce (which is about how many I eat in one sitting)
one ounce of peanuts 168 calories and 4 grams of carbs (which burn slower and act more as actual energy)
one apple with skin (depending on size I am not sure) 65 calories 17 grams carbs
the stevia I am using from NOW products has no carbs.
yes, the carbs in apples are a bit high but any fresh fruit is better than any can of pop
for breakfast I am having about a cup of grape and a grapefruit and will be making coffee, soon.
later on I had one serving of popcorn
4 poached eggs, hard
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 oz neufchatel cream cheese
11 oz 1% milk
and I have such a headache!
